Podcast: People Are F***ing Awesome
I make a point of regularly contacting people I admire to let them know how brilliant they are. Jake Tyler does too, except he tells them out loud, records it and puts it in a place where we can all listen.
Jake’s story is a pretty incredible one. His effort to better understand and shift his depression lead him to walk 3,000 miles around the UK and run several marathons, introducing him a vast community of sportspeople, activists, organisers and communities all aiming to blow up the conversation around mental health. His sensitive understanding of his experiences, and that of others, provides a fizzy baseline for some of the easiest and most natural conversation I’ve come across in a podcast. It oozes generosity and honesty, but doesn’t shy away from the mess that makes us all human. I’ve grinned A LOT whilst listening.
It’s a sunny, evening stroll along the seafront. It’s cheeky chats in a beer garden with a mate. It’s worth signing up for a regular dose.
