Podcast: Made of Human
You know that feeling when you see two people in the corner of the cafe, deep in conversation? They laugh deep from their bellies, but next time you look across they're all serious faces. Later on, it looks like one of them might be tearing up, but then they grin again. You wonder what they're talking about and probably start to wish you knew them.
The 'Made of Human Podcast', or 'MOHPOD' as it's known to regular listeners, is like having an open invitation into the very best of those conversations.
Sofie Hagen is a Danish comedian with a slightly unhealthy knowledge of Westlife's discography. Perhaps partly because of this, she knows some really interesting people with crazy stories, a heightened political conscious and a wealth of experience. Over an hour of candid conversation, Sofie and her various guests end up meandering around culture, work, politics, mental health, relationships; the sort of feelings and experiences that make us all human. Her soft accent does nothing to prepare you for her sharp wit and she cleverly steers the conversation to incorporate the best of her guest's expertise and interests.
On her website, Sofie says that the podcast is about 'connection', and that comes across loud and clear. Somewhere between the title, content and host, a very exclusive club open to every single person is created. The members simply come together to feel less alone in trying their best to make the most.
